Just thought I'd show off my home-made cloches and sweet pea supports which I finished today.

The cloches are made from bits of wire fence (found behind the shed) and plastic from the local carpet superstore.
The sweet pea supports are in place of plastic net which never stays in place and are uprights of bamboo cut from the garden, and more bambo weaved horizontally to keep the uprights stable. Being against a greenhouse also provides natural shading.

Hi Linlin. For years I've tried to grow sweet peas, cos I love them and so does Mrs Sarra. Every year they get to about 6-8 inches and then die off, I can grow just about anything else. Any ideas. And can you post close ups of the inside of your g.house so I can see your supports? Thanks.

    Thanks for the replies.
Sarraceniac - the bamboo supports are on the outside of the greenhouse. That greenhouse has three panes of glass on that side, fixed between metal uprights. Although it's housing my overwintering geraniums, it'll have tomatoes in the summer. I love sweetpeas and have grown them before but never had time to pick the flowers, so they die pretty quickly. Last year, I grew enough to shade the greenhouse in the photo, another larger greenhouse and against a fence - they were brilliant. I also bought some cellophane and ribbon on ebay to make my own bouquets.
If you sowed some seed now (inside, or cloched), you'd be able to plant out by the time they're 6" high.
I have some seedlings about 6" high that I sowed last October and I've also sown some of the seed I collected from last year's plants.

Linlin, brilliant idea for cloches! What did you do? just bowl into the shop and say any plastic covers up for grabs? Very innovative!

Well erm....Yes! I was prepared to poke around their skip, but they fortunately had some they'd yet to throw out.
