Sweet peas

Could anyone out there tell me why the sweet peas i've grown this year have very few flowers ?

Some are in pots and some up a trellis.
Total flowers four.

 

If they were all from the same seed packet, then it could be a problem with the batch, otherwise I dunno - I presume you kept them fed?

 

I bought two pots of seedling at the same time from a garden centre i've used for the last eight years - i assume they were from the same batch.

they've grown strong and tall and i fed them regularly. I just don't have many flowers. :confused:

My compost had water holding gell in it, which i haven't used before. Could over watering have caused this ?
