    Afternoon all

Just planted out my 2 sweet pea at the bottom of my garden. I've placed canes around them in the shape of a wigwam. Does anyone use string around the canes to support the plants?

    Thx Sean

Yes, I do that - not just for sweet peas, though. Last year I had an arrangement like that in a massive plastic tub, had lilac and white sweet peas, and the clarkia grew so tall I twined it up in the whole arrangement too! Can't remember what I had all round the edge, probably lobelia..... it madea great display all summer long! :D

This year I have several shortish climbers growing up a wigwam in the soil, and my MIL generally grows her beans up one in a container.

    Hi mowgley,

I've got three in a pot growing up a wigwam and to help them start I got some twigs and gardeners twine and wrapped them round the wigwam canes so the sweetpeas had something to grab at the start sort of like reaching the first floor! Now they are shooting up and wrapping round the wigwam too.
