All I know is: the older you get the less sweet your pees become.

I tried some in baskets a couple of years ago, I wanted trailing stems in an area often walked past..so that it was scented. Unfortunately the swpeas just headed for the skies, no matter how many times I cut tendrills off and made them hang out of the basket.

You can "lay" them, allow them to grow upwards as a single or double cordon, tieing them in as you go, removing tendrils etc, then when they have reached a decent height, untie them and lay them flat tieing them in to the next couple of canes in the row. This alows your blooms to grow straight up away from the foliage, but thats hardly ground cover.

    Steve...:)
