Hello people I have just come home from work and I have looked at my sweetcorn plants, they are about 3 to 4 inch high.

Would it be safe for these to go out into my garden under some plastic empty coke bottles?
My garden faces south and my wife told me that for most of this week its been about 21C I don't know as I work driving around the country but its been very warm in the truck.

    cheers Graham

I would wait a week or so Mickeylove, even if it`s just to harden them off.
I had a near miss with my sweetcorn with slugs in the coldframe.10 i picked off the sides of the pots.I`ve now got them in the greenhouse where i can keep an eye on them till i plant them out in May.

I love sweetcorn, Mickeylove, and it's still not popular here ... only for animal fodder! However, my friend here with a veggie garden is growing is for "us", so hopefully I'll have some fresh ...

    Good luck with yours!

Yeah, I'd leave it a few weeks. Haven't sowed mine yet even but I shall do over this weekend.
I was advised to cover the patch where it was to go with black plastic to help warm the soil, then plant through holes in the plastic. I did this last time and it seemed to work well, but of course I don't know if it would have worked just as well without the plastic. Anyone any views?

Mickey, beware of late frosts killing these tender plants off.

mickey get them planted as you say.
Take the risk with frost, after all you've got time to plant more.
The weather is so unpredictable in this country, look at the last few days.
Mine have been out for over a week under coke bottles.
If it looks like its getting colder put the lids back on and throw straw or grass cutting round them.
