28th JULY 2007 TOWN GARDENS SWINDON

The Swindon Mela isn't strictly speaking a gardening event but it is held in the beautiful Victorian Town Gardens in Swindon's Old Town.

It is run by members of the town's Asian community and features Indian dance, music, costume, food etc all in the midst of the gardens when they are looking their best.

I went for the first time last year and it was a really good day out, lots of stalls to visit, lots of music and lots and lots of food.

If you can get to Swindon on the 28th of July come to the Mela, it starts at 12:00 noon and goes on until the evening.

If you ever visit Swindon on any other date visit the Town Gardens, they are still layed out and maintained in the Victorian style with a bandstand, aviary, fish pond etc.
