Several years ago I had frogs spawn in my pond every year but since I had my pond rebuilt about 9 years ago I have had nothing.
The original pond was at ground level and the newer one is raised, though a frog could easily climb the stone sides.
I have been promised some frog spawn in the spring hopefully to get frogs return to the garden.
As my pond has goldfish I want to keep the spawn and tadpoles safe.
I was thinking some sort of floating tank (sieve) in the pond as a nursery with holes to hold them for a while before release or they can climb out as froglets.
There is plenty of weed etc in the pond but I just want to give the frogs a bit of a head start as it were.
Does anyone else do something like this?

I cant imagine frogs climbing up those walls to get into the pond, and unless they can use the plants they wont be able to get out due to the overhang on the capping stones.

Can you not build a small separate pond at ground level somewhere else in the garden for wildlife.

Frogs are actually very good at climbing. My Mum was constantly rescuing frogs that climbed up her plastic water butt.
My pond has ivy growing up the back.
I have had a toad and newts in this pond, just no frogs.
I did have a wildlife pond once but frogs always spawned in the big pond!
Frogs can get out by stepping off the plant pots in the pond onto the cap stones and then hurling themselves to the ground :).
There would no problem accessing the pond but I just want to reintroduce frogs to it.

Well I have raised pond and I found lots of spawn on the ground around it last year but none actually in it, almost like the frogs were attracted to the pond but couldn't climb up the sides to get in it.
Most of the tadpoles that hatch in my other pond are probably eaten by the gold fish, I usually transfer at least some spawn to the raised pond that has no fish.

Can understand why you want to have frogs for your pond but do be careful where you get spawn/tads from as there is a lot of disease about which is severely affecting frog populations here and world wide :)

Yes I am aware of possible disease.
I would be getting it from a friends pond just up the road so should be part of the local stock of frogs!

I think tadpoles and froglets don’t do to well with gold fish etc

        Nice looking pool

          No you were not preaching!
It is good to make others aware of spreading disease.
