    what is the best ways of taking leylandii cuttings

    Sorry did not mean to be unhelpfull - Laylands are OK in the right situation and I still have them in my garden.

    I'm tempted to say, "take a chain saw", having spent the last 20 years "trimming" about 60 feet of a 9 foot high, 4 foot thick hedge before it got the final chop a couple of years ago.

    Tear off a few young shoots peel off the lower leaves and stick them in a shady corner of the garden. They are fairly slow to start with, but in a couple of years they'll start growing rapidly.
