Target shooting

At the grand age of 50, with all the children practically away from home now, I have taken up the hobby of target shooting.
I have joined my 'local' club (which is 35 miles away) and will be applying for my Firearms Certificate Until then I can use the guns owned by the club at the range.

good on you fmay hope you enjoy your new hobby, i used to go target shooting when i lived in texas, usa, really enjoyed it, the texans couldnt believe it was my first time as i hit all the targets.hope you get pics for us to see

I do a fair bit of shooting but mainly clays and vermin, never really bothered with targets other than zeroing.

Sadly the kneejerk goverment reaction to Dunblane killed of most of the target shooting in this country.

 

I have tried clay shooting but realised that it wasn't for me. After being told to follow the clay, aim a bit further forward and SHOOT I was missing them all. When I gave in to instinct, saw them launched and practically closed my eyes and shot I started to hit them regularly:dh:.

I fancy the idea of being able to accurately hit a target over and over again (I've always been a bit of a perfectionist:o) The only problem now is the amazingly confusing array of weapons to allow me to acheive my goal - I could have some expensive mistakes before I get what I want.
