Tea leaves

I use loose leaf tea, cannot get on with tea bags, I make 5 small pots of tea per day and at present I tip the tea leaves down the downstairs loo but no matter how carefully I tip them in some always splash onto the walls as the room is only 3' square. So, does anyone have any really bright ideas what I can do with my tea leaves? I could throw them on the garden but if it's pouring with rain I won't want to go out there, I even looked to see if I could get a portable waste disposal unit, but no luck, so ideas anyone?????

throw them in the normal bin? ... or flush them down the drain in the kitchen sink?

 

Use a decorative jar or tin to tip them in until you can take them out and put them in the garden.

 

Paint the loo tea coloured.

My mum has always been convinced that they do the garden no end of good and help to keep the soil acidic (most of the plants she grows seem to prefer acid soil). If you don't always want to trek out into the garden in the rain, why not just tip your leaves into a container and dump them on your plants every now and then when the sun is shining?

PS In the workrooms, cold tea was used to dye white linings an ecru colour. Apparently you can also use it as fake tan, although I'm not sure I would risk it.

 

I would be worried about blocking up the pipe!!! I think they are too 'wet' for the normal bin.

I only use teabags because I drink Peppermint, Green Tea and Earl Grey. However, no matter what tea I use I keep the teabags and when they are dried I open them up and put them on my precious outdoor plants.

I always compost my tea leaves and coffee Grounds

I just have a small plastic butter tub and put them in there
If tea bags tear open first
When using leaf tea, I use a strainer anyway so knock it out in my tub

Or you can buy a stainless steel ball (tea bag) you place your leaf tea in
infuse it and when cold just open the ball into your wee tub

Tea leaves won't block your sink pipe they actually help to break down any grease that's there.

 

Is this really true? that would be SO much easier than a bloomin' bucket!!

Slop the wet tea leaves onto a saucer, swill them round a few times, and see if you can see next week's lottery numbers in them. If you can, tell us, and we can all get rich and pay someone else to sort out our tea slops.
