Waste of time for our sort of job, too light and the mecanisms stick. If you want something colapsable then go for a sectional surveyers ladder, I have one permanently in the back of the pickup for pestcontrol jobs.

For outdoor work though especially were youll be streaching imo you want something heavyer.

For gardening/ tree work and property maintance though I use a heavy industrial tripple combination ladder, I trust it implicitly even at full 9m extension, it simply will not move even if you overstreach a bit....

I use the 12 rung one, the bottom stablising bar can slide to acomodate unneven ground and this makes for a particularly stable ladder. I only ever use it as an extension ladder.

Be aware that there are classifications for ladders.

Class 1 = Rope operated, Professional

Class 2 = Push up, Professional

Class 3 = Push up, Non Professional

Professional is when you are paid to do the job. Don't use anything not marked with the class label, they are sub standard and weak (and should not be on sale).

Have to say that I bought one when they first came on the market, at a Trade show in Brum, about 15 years ago. I used it for work(not building sites) and it was well worth it's weight and got me out of a few awkward spots, where ladders were too long and steps too short.Being used to working off ladders I would have one for domestic/garden use no problem:)

I got one for my nephew a couple of Christmases ago - I got it off QVC so it wasn't cheap (more like £280 ) but you know what it's like trying to buy Christmas pressies for the men! And being an indulgent auntie/Godmother, I indulged him! He seems to be delighted with it and has used it a lot.
