I've never really been a fan of roses. The flowers are of course fabulous looking and smelling, but they look so rubbbish when the flowers aren't they and I saw them as needing lots of attention with green/black fly and pruning.
I know modern varieties have improved a lot though, so I'm thinking of getting one.
I think I have killed my silver birch tree :(-quite a feat for such a hardy tree! So, I'm thinking of growing the rose up that. I might also add in a clematis :)
What's the difference between ramblers and climbers?
I saw a rose I liked at Alnwick gardens, it had tiny white flowers, borne in clusters. They were like miniatures of wild roses, not with multiple petals, and it was climbing up an arch. What varieties fit that description, smell nice and are easy to care for?
    Thanks :)
