Well as it is a trick question I would have said the wine but it is probably either the reviews or the advertising of the product:snorky:

Oh and I have just read at the top of the advert that you ordered this product on the 12th of December but not sure if that is true or not?

No, not a trick question, and yes I did buy this on the 12th.

What sort of drink @Zigs? Lemonade? Beer? Wine?

Something that would have been £1.49 cheaper if bought back in January? Which is really relevant if it's alcohol free as it would minimise wasted money.

Ah, @Scrungee has being doing his research! Yes, it is alcohol free - but where on the description shown above does it say that? Nowhere!

I purchased this as a gift for someone and had it wrapped and delivered directly to them - only when they opened it did we learn that it was alcohol free!

The recipients don't want to appear rude, so are reluctant to have it returned/replaced, but I know that they are just being polite. Amazon have apologised, and offered a £5 voucher as a goodwill gesture, but to be honest that is a bit of a boot in the teeth - - nearly £30 for grape juice and a knackered Christmas present. I am livid, with a capital F

So it's misrepresentation. I'm pretty certain that automatically puts them in breach of the 'implied terms of contract' as per the sale of goods act. That's makes the retailer legally liable. They will want to offer a full refund and either withdraw the product or change the description ASAP, because that would be better for them than having to be investigated because while the sale of goods act is mostly about sorting individual purchase disputes, misrepresentation can result in serious penalties.

The description doesn't just ommit important details, there is a strong implication that it is alcohol in the big red line of text about needing to be 18 to buy alcohol.

I'd be furious and if I wasn't offered a full refund, I'd probably tell them I'm submitting the case to the small claims court just on principle alone for lying.

Alcohol is not for sale to people under the age of 18. For the facts about alcohol visit drinkaware.co.uk. A signature will be required on delivery

To me, that appears misleading for a 'wine' that's only 0.4% ABV, and I'm sure that's below the ABV that's restricted to over 18's, so is misleading.

P.S. Reviews plus what customers also bought flag up it's 'alcohol free'.

They have offered a refund, however only if I can get the goods returned - that is not going to happen, so I am stuffed. We use Amazon a lot, and to be fair we rarely have problems, however given the circumstances I am furious. I certainly won't be ordering anything like this from Amazon again.

Agreed, if you scroll down to the 'specs' then you can see it is 0.4%; I don't know about you, but I look at the specs when I am buying a car or electronics, but wouldn't dream of it for wine, hence I took it at face value.

Wine is an "an alcoholic beverage" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine

The UK 'alcohol free' limit is 0.5% ABV.

So can that 0.4% ABV stuff from Amazon be labelled as 'wine', or should be described 'alcohol free wine'.
