I had a gift card given to me to use at tesco.
I used part of it , no problem.
I went to use the rest, the lady on the till said,"there seems to be a problem i can't do it , you'll have to go to cutomers service".
They say, "there's nothing left on this card".
    Yes there is i said.
It's nothing to do with us you'll have to ring the number on the card.
    I did this.
And was told the money had been taken off at the till but not finalized.
So what about my money I ask, go to the store and tell them.
I did this , No they said not our problem ring head office, we can't get through.
I rang , it took me an hour to get through, yes she said we are having a problem eversince an upgrade to the computer systeme, we have lots of problems.
Go back to the store they will have been notified and will sort it out.
Back to the store ,they no nothing.
    Can't help
    So what do i do.
Back home i ring head office again, this time they didn't want to no, not our problem you will have to sort it out with the store.
Hinting i was lying and trying to get money on the card that had already been used.
Don't no what to do so i ring the store .
I tell them again the money was taken off at the till but didn't go onto the bill , so where is my money.
They say they are looking into it.
I have both my till reciepts.

It's not about the money anymore.
I have been made to look like a liar and a cheat.
But what can i do ?

    Hi Lynn,

Sorry to hear about your problems.I have never had a Gift card from them myself although we have bought them for my FiL from time to time.

It sounds to me like they are all just trying to fob you off and put the blame on someone else.If you go to this site http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/index.html although you will have to join to ask a question there are people on there that can advise you because I think other people have had the same sort of problems.

I think the problem now is that because so many people are now trying to cheat Tesco's with photocopied vouchers {the club card vouchers they send out once a quarter that you can exchange for deals on days out etc} they seem to be clamping down on it,but the problem is now that everyone is tarred with the same brush and they seem to think we are all the same:(

I do hope you can get it sorted out because I find this sort of thing very upsetting for the customer....

Lyn. Find out the name of the guy who owns/runs Tescos. Send him a recorded delivery letter explaining everything that has happened. (It won't get to him but someone has to sign for it:wink:, therefore it will be read by one of the "great and good"). Point out that, as you've discussed this on several websites, quite a few people are getting "hacked off" with their cavalier attitude towards their customers. They won't care about you as an individual but they are very sensitive to their "image". You could also point out that when you had a problem at Morrisons, the manager sorted it out there and then.
I shop at Tescos most of the time. Like all big organisations (apparently the government as well:D) they just follow "rules". Don't bother with the local people, go for the top. I can assure you that when the local store gets a message from them they will jump.:) Good luck.

About 6 months back, I was looking for a new mobile phone because mine was on the way out, so went into our local Tesco's and for week after week, they had very few actually on sale. As I didn't want a pink one for my network, so I waited for the new stock to arrive shortly as per the claims in their displays. After over a month, I asked one of the Customer Service Staff how long is their shortly and got told: "They will be in three weeks next Sunday." Three months later, they finally came in.

I'll give them until friday and then it's all guns blazing.
I'm not afraid of causing a stir in the customer service area , i have already been accused of telling lies there.
This nutty lady will demand to see the store manager , i have his name .
And i will tell him if he can't sort it out I'm writting to the top.
They think i will get fed up and go away.
    Not a chance.
After this will i shop there again.
    No

Maybe the technical guys at their H.Q. have got a clever system that alerts them when the name "Tesco" shows up somewhere:skp:. They've read this and decided that you've won. Glad you got a result:)

Good result but what an anti climax as you didn't get to have a go at the customer service morons!!!!

    I love confrontations in shops!!!!!

Reminds me of when I was working as an optical tech and due to shortstaffing was forced to do the front desk..... Trust me to get the enraged man with a justifiable complaint but a really abusive tone. Anyway I called his bluff and simply said lets not waste time arguing ill put through a 30% refund by way of compensation for the aggravation you've had.... it shut him up.

Just as he was leaving I whispered just loud enough for him alone to hear.... I knew that would shut you up you tight * the color of his face was an absolute picture!!!!

    ("the finger"???...more like a slapped bottom!)

Lyn,we have a big Tesco in Evesham and the staff are great and were on the ball when Mrs Pal had a similar problem with her card. We don't often go because we shop online and you know what?:D..I actually miss going!

Pal, "the finger" 'cause I only shop with the MBH. If I was by myself, something more than a "slapped bottom":D
