Shadows' come into season, the Boys are going mad.

Arwen and Stryder go for their health checks on Wednesday, subject to the results, they'll be able to join the breeding programme.

So much worry and grief but would I change a thing?

NO! I love my dogs, all 12 of them :doggieshmooze:

She has? :runforhills: You'll have all the neighbouring dogs gathering in packs around your front door! :th scifD36:

Good luck with Arwen and Stryder's health checks, I'm sure they will pass with flying colours

Ayla is also off to the vets next Wednesday, but that is for neutering

      BTW: how is Comet?

Sounds like you've got more sleepless nights to come then Vince. :) Fingers crossed for the health checks.

I'm gonna split hairs again 'M'.......I thought neutering was male and spaying was female?

Hi "M", Comet is doing great....... He spends weekends with his new mummy and daddy(who he adores) and the rest of the week with us! Talk about a win win situation? We send him home on a Friday evening with his weekend meals carefully prepared, pick him up again on Monday morning and we're getting paid to do it!

Hi Vince, aww, seems Comet has found an ideal life between two devoted homes :dbgrtmb:

Could have sworn I replied to this around 6am  (must have clashed with the change over :dunno:)

Anyway, what I said earlier was words to the effect: "neutering" is a general term, which pertains to male and female, and refers to the removal of reproductive organs.
"Spaying" is more specific, and refers to the operation to remove particular female reproductive parts ( the uterus and ovaries).
"Castration" is specific to dogs and refers to the removal of the testicles :)

      ~ Ozzy was castrated
      ~ Ayla will be spayed
~ Both are/will be neutered

(Booking hair appointment for a trim to remove all the split ends Sheal is giving me :heehee: )

I'm really just testing your knowledge 'M'. :) Sorry, I'm in a bit of a cantankerous mood at the moment, must be the lack of rain! :heehee:

          "Knowledge checks" are
"Exam" is a word which puts shivers down my spine :hate-shocked:

I've spent most of motherhood assuring my children they are *not* taking exams ( = pass/fail), nor are they under a microscope: merely "knowledge checks" (you either know it or you don't ... eradicating the "fail-ure" element :heehee: )

          PS: Did I pass :rofllol:

            Another gold star earned! :)

Talking of which, a gold star added to the smilies would be good.

what do you do @Vince when you've bitches in heat around intact dogs? our neighbours have recently got themselves a Cane Corso bitch (beautiful looking pup)who is at this moment slap bang in the middle of her first heat, they also have an entire male Staffy who is separated from her by a wire fence...he has himself in a right state crying & wailing his head off non stop..the poor ol' fella has even gone & cut his mouth up bad trying to get through the wire fence to the bitch & when they brought him inside overnight he wrecked the kitchen trying to get out. i'll be honest im surprised at how extreme his behaviour is, considering he's an old boy & as far as im aware never been bred...makes me think they have  our boys on the other hand are both their normal happy selves, in great spirits, even though our two gardens only barrier is a brick wall. many years ago the same neighbours had three bitches & none of our dogs ever took a blind bit of notice & back then there was a biggish gap in it that the dogs could see each other through so i dunno, i find it all very strange how there male is reacting so differently to ours  how do yours react Vince?

              how do yours react Vince?

Let's just put it this way, Shadow is in height of season, I've been up since 2am controlling the whimpers and howling!!!!

Shadow is kept in a separate room whilst in season, along with Tess and Arwen, shortly to be joined by Amber, because she's coming into season too.

Never a dull moment in our house!
