Yesterday there was little time for the garden. I was on bird minding duty. DSC00039.JPG DSC00045.JPG DSC00034.JPG DSC00035.JPG DSC00019 (2).JPG Little thrush and blue tit needed demand feeding. My instructions were ''every time a mouth opens, fill it up'' The big mistle thrush is Melvin Mistle, the same bird as in my avatar. I found him badly dehydrated sitting forlornly by his dead mum - a magnificent bird, but very dead - something had attacked her and almost severed her head.
The two greenfinches are all that was left of a little family here on site. Their nest had been predated - we wonder if it was stoat, weasel or cat ? These little survivors are doing well, and although I was syringe feeding them (less often than suite number one) they were starting to feed themselves as well. Then there was the sparrow, he had only just been brought to rescue - a little bit older, but unable to care fully for himself. This one was that bit more nervous of people, and didn`t want to be fed - at least not willingly.
Thought you might like to share :)
