Just cleaned the patio with the power washer and what a difference it makes.
I didn't realise how dirty it was.

I'll put one on my present list for Christmas roders.
Seems to do a good job, better than those chemicals that you can buy for cleaning paving. I'm always weary about them getting washed into the ground around plants and the effect they might have.

Pete if you get a high powered one rather than the cheap little ones, you can blast dirt off of walls, completely clean the green house,on my model there is a pipe were you can put such as jeyes fluid which will come out diluted, without to much harm, also put anti fungi on the drive ways

Yeah, might get one, one day.
Whats the situation being that we have a hosepipe ban?
God this drought is the wettest one I've ever known. :D

You may be able to use it for cleaning paths and patios, but you would be well advised to ask on the grounds of "Safety" saying that the surface is slippery.

I've just bought a second hand one for Ã?£20, it was about Ã?£70 new so not the biggest, but it is excellent and doesn't use as much water as I expected, although I get quite wet from the spray. I cleaned down old trellis and garden swing, the spray blasted off all the old colour, greyness, and mould. Now ready for treatment, and it would have taken ages to sand. An excellent gadget! Agree with Liz. Fine gadgets, and even the teeny little £40 gizmos work OK, just don't last that long.

Pete, if you have a real problem with hosepipe bans then the solution is as follows: pay your neighbour £5 to wash your patio, then let him pay you the same to wash his. As I understand it, it is perfectly legal to use a pressure washer in the S.E. as long as it is for 'Commercial Purposes'. So just do it as a job, not for yourself. Stupid or what?

I have a Karcher, I pull it out of the shed every year for the annual cleaning of paths/patios etc.

The only problem I find, is that the fungi/mould comes back quicker ....... Didn't realise that an anti fungi trewatment was available, which may make the difference.

Can't say as I agree with all this automation and gadgets (garden vacs, chain saws, flame guns etc) and noise not to mention excessive use of H20 and blasting the poor bugs that might be sheltering.

My mum scrubbed the front steps with pumice and water once a week. If we all did that on our patios the world would be a better place and we wouldn't have the present problems with obesity either.

    ;) ;)

I'd a Karcher and it was great. It also had an attachment for feeding abrasive grit into the jet for removing rust. The only problem I found was that it was quite heavy as it was a self-contained unit. Now I've got another pressure washer which has the gun on the end of a 15' hose and is much easier to handle.

Used anti-fungal stuff this spring for the first time and it has worked extremely well. Not a trace of moss has returned and it usually does

Green grows in the small air holes and rough which the karcher pops and pits as it pounds the surface. The more you wash patios the more porous they seem to become. I still use them on my concrete but it pays to re-seal with a product after plus some anti fungi. [IMG]
