I fully agree. Where there is a risk to life, everything else has to go out of the window. law enforcement and the courts have a duty to ensure there is no risk, especially where a minor is concerned and can't legally make their own choices

IMO The State spends far too much money, earned from the 50% of the population NOT employed by the state, on meddling in such things.

Time and time again they have missed the ones where they needed to intervene, but have intervened heavy handedly where it was not warranted.

Seems there's been mass hysteria over the case, possibly due to sensationalist media publicising . However, I tend to agree with Alex Thomson that, given the evidence presented to CPS at the time, the response was appropriate, and that what occurred after that in Spain was another thing entirely.

Indeed, the response was appropriate ...

... provided that what we have heard WAS the evidence given is correct ...

... and the Hospital / Administrator responsible wasn't on some sort of vendetta. Why did we get to hear that they were Johvas Witnesses? What if the father said "I've got all the gear to keep the child alive I'm off to Spain to seek treatment" (or whatever) and the Administrator took umbrage?

I heard that the hospital is (only now?) saying that they offered / are offering the treatment even though they think it will not be effective.

If it walks like Plebgate, Quacks like Plebgate, it probably is a duck ...

My problem starts with the fact that I don't believe anything that is printed in the media, because so often so much of it has proven to be fabricated, or at the very least slanted so far over that it no longer stands up by itself ...

I think the Jehovah's Witnesses mention may have come from a bit of ignorance, with not believing in blood transfusions, etc. and someone got it confused & wrapped around their necks?

I assumed it was mentioned in order to stir up the fear that the parents would refuse treatment.

If the press turned that up for themselves then it was to sell papers, or "In the national interest"

Let's hope that the hospital didn't release that information ...
