A dry morning with lots of folks like us needing a reason to get out and take the air, so it was a well attended event this year. Somehow, I could feel an air of happiness and contentment amongst the animals, those on horseback and the rest of us looking on.
A few shots ( not easy to get good 'uns) - too much going on but I hope you like these,
    Jenny

The hounds wandered fearlessly amongst us and loved a bit of a pat and a chat

this young lass and her mount were worthy of a photo

also this elegant lady and her splendid horse
P1050774.JPG I love to see them "in their best attire"
    P1050743.JPG
    and some friendly banter
    P1050767.JPG
passing around the stirrup cup stuff

    and the mince pies

then the Hunt Master sounded the tally ho and they cantered off to Lower Lake, Marley Lane for some exercise.

This year was the biggest Boxing Day meet up we have seen. About 60 -70 horses and a few pony and traps too.

Riding a horse side saddle always amazes me . I can't think of anything that looks more uncomfortable and dangerous than that . Now my total knowledge of "horsemanship" was a ride on the donkeys when I was six.

thank you Marley Farley. I had no wish to offend anyone. Just wanted to show you all the Abbey square on Boxing Day and the time and effort people put into their hobby, for us who know very little about keeping horses or dogs on such a scale.
They all looked very relaxed and happy,
              Jenny

Sincere apologies - was only responding to what has been posted and not intending to cause any (further) issues - only seeking clarity on something I'm not well informed on, arising from the above and (hopefully) from someone who may well be better informed on this than I am. I adore Jenny's photos ... I'm saddened for the sheep Jiffy describes ... just not understanding why one should be a direct consequence of the other. :dunno:

Point taken, understood, apologies to anyone I may have offended with my thoughts ... and ... :mute:
