The best thing I've seen on my TV over Christmas has been the button marked OFF.

If I've seen one animated piece of crap I've seen a dozen and it ain't stopped yet.

This a one time chance to see the First Lady Michelle Obama singing her heart out.

I love watching the TV at times especially all the Gordon Buchanan programmes this week.(Even had an elephant named after me on one of Gordon's programmes:yes:) Also have loved Planet Earth 2,The Supervet,Vet On The Hill,The Yorkshire Vet,any gardening programmes,Poldark,Last Tango in Halifax,Call the Midwife down in South Africa,My Family And Other People and plenty of others that have been on over the months. Also have enjoyed all the digging programmes with Professor Alice Roberts and really enjoyed the Flying Scotsman Foot Plate programme last night really interesting as they showed a section of a long field walk we did the other year along the river on one of our long strolls and we nearly didn't make it back to the car before we lost the daylight and was worried we would stumble into the river even though we had phone torches. (We have since bought on line two of those small powerful torches for our rucksacks in case we run out of time again:snorky:)

So i do find the TV at times very educational and have learnt so much though it over the years, more so than what we were not taught at school.(Never did Henry 8th or his six wives:biggrin:)although we never watch any of the soaps, rarely have it on during the day as we are busy outside doing other stuff but like to watch if after we get back from our evening walk, when I am not disabled with knee problems until we go to bed so can't really call ourselves telly addicts but would be lost without it:snorky:

It always amuses me when people slag off the soaps, in detail.......how can they do this if they don't watch them?:) and if they don't watch them why should it be such an issue?
I am a Coronation Street fan and have been pretty well since it's inception and am not snobbish enough to deny it:lunapic 130165696578242 5:. Know a few who say it's rubbish but watch avidly. Yes ok it's not Shakespere which I also like but don't know I'd want to watch/listen to works of The Bard 3 times a week! I also like Holby City, don't like any of the other soaps.
Of course it can be argued it's a waste of time but I find watching them is a great way of switching off. They hold enough of my attention to engage the brain to stop thinking about slightly more pressing matters!
I am very very keen on all sports apart from Football and TV enables me to watch dozens of different sports from all over the world which without it I'd hardly be able to afford the time or expense to get to see many of them.
On the occasions I have been to a sporting event and then seen it on TV, 9 times out of 10 the TV coverage has given me a better view of the action. Many a time crowds of people have stood up at a vital stage of a game and all I've seen is a sea of backs of heads. I would like spectators to have seats that you are strapped into like the fairground rides so you can't stand up until the opperator releases the straps:)...bit tricky I suppose if you need to get to a WC!

It's great of you to come out Silu and admit to watching Corrie , I also admit to never missing Corrie (and Iam a bloke) for the very reasons you do ,it's proberbly rubbish to lots of people but to me it has comedy ,drama , and some unique talented characters actors.
Allowing me to switch off completely .It is the only soap we watch.
It's surprising just how many people don't watch it.......but know everything that's going on.
In fact if I am in the garden and Corries on Mrs.Roders calls me in.........we wouldn't like to miss a moment.:dbgrtmb:

I hope no one thought I was slagging off people who watch soaps as I used to watch Coronation Street,Crossroads,General Hospital and even Eastenders when it first started.I was forced to sit and watch Coronation Street and Crossroads when I was a youngster in the sixties while helping my mum and dad out with their outdoor work which they did after my dad had done a full days work and I got roped in to help.I gave up with Crossroads and Coronation Street when I started taking an interest in boys when I got older and Mr Kandy and I had married we started watching Eastenders but as it was on every night in those days so we were neglecting the allotment work so started watching the Omnibus editions on a Sunday but in the end it all got too much so we dropped Eastenders in the end.

As I said in my last post we just don't have the time to sit and watch them as we have now lost the plot so to speak:snorky::gbh:
