The Birds Come In the Garden Two by Two....

    ...well it may be officially Spring but the current weather is making it feel as though its as far away as ever, but there are signs that the plants and birds are fighting back.

    Our hawthron hedge is starting to burst into leaf in the sheltered sections of its length and most noticeable of all the birds are quite obviously paired off waiting for the temperature to rise and then nesting can begin. We have blackbirds, robins, blue tits, great tits, long tailed tits, chaffinches, goldfinches, dunnocks and wood pigeons all visiting the garden in pairs, lets just hope things warm up soon to enable them get on with nesting :)

      I saw a Magpie pulling fibres off of the trunk of a small Trachy today, obviously nest making, they will do it despite the weather. Blackbirds, Sparrows, Collared Doves Woodies, all in courtship mode.

        For all this awfull weather Spring is definately in the air here,Blue Tits and Great Tits in and out of the bird boxes,Blackbirds making nests in my ivy and Stoggies flying past with some impressive looking nesting material....one had a twig so big it could hardly fly....plus the straw round my rhubarb has disappeared aswell....

          The Magpie was obviously having touble with the Trachy fibres,
