Rosa the white ones look just like the sort that are used by people to keep away intruders from their properties.Thes look like they may be ones that have escaped and gone wild. I am glad to hear that you are both ok.I would have been quiet scared myself, but I think I too would have been laughing about it later.

dee i was in the marden quarry nature reserve, just off the broadway.
kandy maybe it was them that got away, because i have never seen aggressive ones up there till now.
yes i can laugh about it now, I can see the funny side to it.

Rosa must be a very small dog. I thought geese would be scared of all dogs, after all even a fox can easily take out a goose. Not far from here is Ellesmere and on the big mere are hundreds of geese. The big white ganders, that have been dumped in all probability, are renowned for aggression - they mug the tourists for food. When i used to take Duke, my gentle black labrador the flock used to part as we walked along, with the geese all running and taking to the water. Some people used to stick closer to my dog cause they thought it was safer.
Does not work wih the swans though. When I am on the canal if they have eggs or chicks the male swan comes rushing over hissing to take on my German Shepherd. Unfortunately she is up for it and i have to drag her off down the tow path.

My parents were keeping a few geese at one time, and I can tell you that they are not quite the same as a dobermann, but along those lines...
They can make a lot of noise when they see something that they don't recognize, and if they attack you, since they are quite strong, they can hurt, especially with their beaks.

But they are a gorgeous stuffing for a duvet...
