What it was before we had to fence it off because of the grandchildren's safety.

After six years of being fenced off. I couldn't get near it to work.

I punctured the liner a few weeks ago to let the wildlife find new homes.

    Today's efforts

Shame to see this, but I can understand why you had to let it go. Small kids and ponds are not a good combination. You can't watch the kids all the time can you?
Shame you couldn't have covered it over with some sheets of weldmesh 'til the grandkids were older.

What a shame as it was so lovely, Rhyleysgranny.

True, kids and ponds do not go well together, Riley. We didn't fence ours in but we kept a constant eagle eye on it when the grandsons were small. We also changed the locks on the patio doors, ones with keys that we put away out of the kids sight and reach. But we could grab them at a moments notice if needed, which fortunately we didn't.

We have a different problem now, the pond is choc-full of Water Soldiers / Water Pineapples (Stratiotes aloides). I started fishing it out several days ago, what a job! We also have mint growing everywhere. I seriously doubt that we will ever get our pond looking clean and tidy again.

Rhyleysgranny, Good Luck on redoing yours and looking forward to seeing pics of how you progress and the final result.
