The dreaded Cabbage White

    As autumn approaches/is with us, can I stop protecting my purple sprouting broccoli from the cabbage white or must I keep the mesh on, and if so, when can I remove it?

    I haven't seen any butterflies for a while, even if they were flying I can't imagine the eggs would hatch in time to do any harm. So remove them any time, but remember the pigeons will be watching and they will strip the plants in a day. Better to swap to bird netting before the weather gets too bad, as insect netting will collapse under the weight of snow and squash the plants.

      I've got some Cabbage's which are still in pots (2 inches) and i found some nice looking green caterpillers yesterday
