Mine are to go completely t-total (which won't be too hard as I don't drink that much anyway)
Give up the fags which will be harder but once the three days are over I'll be ok( started that one about an hour ago and doing ok so far)
Exercise more( I walk most places anyway and have got my weight down to where I want it, just need to get fit with it)

Anyone got any advice for the no smoking bit??

    What are your resolutions??

Talk to Kandyfloss about the fags - well her o/h. He's done really well.

No resolutions for New Year. I make them every couple of weeks throughout the year and fail:(

Good luck to you both and let us know how you get on, and be honest!

    cheers

    Mine:

reduce the alcohol intake, limit it to weekends only. I only drink wine but I do like a bottle of good red so this one will be a bit hard to do but will try my best.

walk more, well, walk more as soon as the fractured bone had mended a bit.

eat no chocolates ( managed it in 2008 so can't be hard for 2009)

reduce wheat intake...I think it acts as cement in the stomach and I know I feel so full of energy when i cut out wheat for a few days....so this one is a must try.

    love more
    laugh more
    forgive more
    forget old pains
appriciate my friends and make new friends.

just a few of the ones I start the year with.

I don't normally make them but this year I have made 2 and I am determined to keep them.
Mine is to Completely de-clutter my life.
    The loft is first.
Then the bedroom cupboards and wardrobes the kitchen and in the better weather the garden shed and the garage.
Even the garden is going to get a good sort out.
A few trips to the charity shop and tip then.

And one other ,I really must try to stop letting thing worry me so much.

Monday I am off to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks then on my return it will be all systems go.

I am going to be one laid back tidy minimalist chick.:lollol:

" Anyone got any advice for the no smoking bit??"

I keep hearing adverts on the radio to contact NHS Direct (or somesuch, I don't smoke so not relevant to me) and that their help will greatly increase the chances of success.

If I hear the advert again I'll make a note of the details and report back.

I seem to remember reading that the time that you choose to give up is critical - so 1st Jan may be fine for the resolution, but may not be the best date to actually start stopping. (I expect it relates to other stresses in your life, so annual holiday-time may be best ...)

I don't do resolutions, but I do start a new hobby / project. I plan to keep Bees this year (although that was before I read a book about the process, and I'm not so confident now - more time involved than I expected, and I'm not confident that I'm going to be able to detect some of the things the book talks about - time & experience will help, I'm sure, so I'll see once I've contacted the local Bee Keeping association.

Good luck with the smoking; I know too many people who have died of lung cancer, and I'm only too happy when I hear that someone has managed to stop ...

    Good Luck

And as a Life Coach I sy you'll do better with the first than the second - because of the words you have used.

You sid you're going to do the first one - you've said you're going to 'try' to do the second one. Programming your brain to try is much less likely to succeed - you've already half given up when you say try!!!! :thmb::thmb::thmb: Decide what you are going to do about the 'worrying'. Trying to STOP doing something is like 'don't mention the war'. Better to say something on the lines of 'Everytime I catch myself worrying about something outside my control I'm going to ........................ instead(fill in the blank). It won't stop the worrying overall but it will reduce it and help you feel more in control of it.

Yes. I can see your point.
The thing is the first one , the clear out , I am in total control.
So I no it's only me and I can do it.
The second , to stop worrying, most of my worrying is caused by other people , which I have little control over.
I have removed myself away as much as I can, but when you have a family it's very hard.
The funny thing is ,I never used to worry about much at all when I was younger and had much more to worry about. :hehe:
    Absolutely ridiculous.
    It must be age. :o

Hypnosis helped me stop smoking, going from smoking 30 a day to none after one session (I had a second and last session 5 days later) and with relatively few cravings. Nearly 6 months on I am a non smoker.

As the Resolutions, I try not to make any at this time of year-the pressure to succeed almost certainly leads to failure! However OH and I have agreed we need to cut down on our alcohol consumption during the week and exercise more, for the sake of our waistlines.

I also am considering taking up yoga, to help me relax and to achieve better posture/help my back.
