I have one weeks holiday and I come back and weeds are literally up to my knees when they were only mowed flat 3 weeks ago.

On a good note the veg patch survived fantastically well and grew like crazy while I was away. I can now have lettuce and radishes and the peas are covered in pods. And my potatoes are lovely little bushes.

Would a veg patch be able to last two weeks in July without a watering from me or am I being optimistic there?

can you get someone to water your veg when you're away? if you said they could have some free veg i'm sure you would get some offers!

yeh the weeds are really taking off the minute.

2 Weeks in July is a tad optimistic - but maybe a neighbour could be tasked to do the watering?

I'll have to get friendly with the neighbours then. After a border dispute with one of them that went on for months I've been put off from attempting to befriend the other side. I could always put an ad in the local shop window and see if a kid wants a bit of extra pocket money for a couple weeks.
