I picked up a baby one (compared to yours @whis4ey ) last month for £1, out of interest how long before it gets to a reasonable size do you think?, its currently in a 3lt pot so will be overwintered in an unheated greenhouse :)

Are you keeping it in a pot? It will stay smallish for a long time I would think. If you are planting it out it really does need loads and loads of water as it gets bigger :)

I may keep it in a larger pot next year before planting in to its final position :)

As you can see, it has access to plenty of water!

Rather tidier than mine, where the leaves have been cut off and placed strategically for winter warmth

It should be - they get paid for it! Us amateurs have to fit this stuff in around life:)

Just this last week the leaves on mine have started to sag,I must make time and cut it down for the winter. It's done very well for a two year old and should be quite interesting next year.
This was it mid year...I've moved surrounding plants now to give it more space...it was planted over a large waterproof container sunk three feet into the ground to give it a reservoir of ground water.
