The miracle of the Spring Equinox

    P1080236.jpg As I gaze out on a cold, wild, wet, windy Winter's day I find it difficult to imagine I will ever want to get out there again and have no inclination to think of gardening .
    Then, the miracle of new growth appears and I can sense that powerful change.
    This is Persicara Red Dragon which I have planted in various places in the communal garden where I live. I have divided it and also reproduced it from simple cuttings which will, at this time of year, grow roots as the plant is desperate to grow on with the stimulus it senses from the lengthening day light. I adore this leaf colour and it's boldness. Just 3 weeks and it is now planted up in 2 separate pots to grow on and be planted out in June. Very little effort required and at no cost. One happy gardener...

        Lots of us lose the will to garden in January and February. March, some plants start to show and the enthusiasm flows back.
        I do like the red dragon Jenny, just added it to my wish list :blue thumb:

          These stem cuttings rooted in plain tap water in a cut down water bottle on a windowledge!

          It can also be easily divided .......done now it will produce large plants in mid summer :)
