It is the worst time to look at the moon through a telescope as it is so bright all the features are bleached out. Best to wait and look along the demarcation between light and dark to see the craters and other features. Cheers, Tony.

          ......and footprints.
great shot Woo . reminds me of when I was in Australia . I had looked at the moon for a couple of nights while drinking a can or five of Victoria Bitter on the verandah , it looked different  Then it clicked, you view the moon upside down in Oz ! When in the southern hemisphere you are in effect upside down. I presume it appears on its side on the equator ?

70 x 300 that's larger than my second lens 55 x 250 of course. Sorry to give you the third degree Woo, but do you use a filter too. I'm asking, as with my present lens I find it difficult to get a decent shot of the moon, if I take it after dark then it just becomes a bright blur, but I have taken a reasonable shot at dusk as it's rising. :)

Hi Sheal no worries my friend only to pleased to be of some help:)
I use no filter, the shots are are usually taken at F8 with a shutter speed of 200/250.I use a Nikon D300 with a Tamron 70 x 300 lens which was the best that I could afford,(£120) of course the Nikon lens would be much better but it is out of my financial affordability (not sure if that,s a word or not);)If you need any more help just ask ;)

Thank you for the info Woo. I think I'd better get some more practice in, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get a reasonable shot with my lens. Although I've had my camera a while it's the first time I've had anything other than a pocket camera, so the 'science' is proving hard for me to digest. :)

I have a Cannon 1100D which my son recommended as a good camera for a beginner and both my lenses are Canon too. Practice makes perfect! :)
