I know this may be a subject of contention .... but I am not here for political discussions.

I have to say that the opening of the Olympics in Beijing was absolutely spectacular and breathtaking and the best I have ever seen. God only knows how they choreographied 15,000 people, althought some of the events took over two years to perfect. And the lighting of the torch was breathtaking.

Well worth being a couch potato for a few hours ..... now I can forget about the sports as I only like the Winter Olympics ..... :)

    I totally agree.
Amazing to see and no amount of sporting activity to come will beat it.
    My Olympics is over.

A-maz-ing! I missed the first 20 mins but the ending more than made up for it. Reminiscent of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"

    Why Pal? :D

I really will be surprised if we do anything half as good
    never mind beat it:eek:

We haven't the space, the money or the thousands of people to
take part and who can beat the Chinese at fireworks?

Perhaps the only thing we could impress them with would be the
Queen driving round the stadium in her golden coach accompanied
by dozens of her soldiers in bearskin hats! :D :D :D
