I planted several gladiolus bulbs and five of them recently flowered. All five of them have fallen or leaned badly though, how can I fix this? I did tie some fishing wire to the fence and wrapped it around the stalk of one plant to stand it up but it began to die days after, the flowers going dry like paper, so I cut the wire.

Should I just accept them the way they are or is there a fix? Would a 'softer' string/wire do a better job?

    Thanks a lot!

Last year I had the same problem. I just stuck a bamboo can in next to them and loosely tied them to the cane. Didn't look great but kept them off the ground.

I stuck a bamboo cane in to support mine and tied them twice loosely. You won't get them totally straight but looks much better!

Did you check on those bulbs from last year catztail? I had some peacock orchid gladioli i didnt plant this year and they've shrivelled :( Lol. Just as well I got some more in the spring!! I forgot about them :heehee: lol
