This morning, I was listening to the radio and heard that Sissinghurst Castle was celebrating its 75th Anniversary today; and, that for today only, entry fee would be the same as it was 75 years ago - 1 shilling!

    How could I resist? :heehee:

So, grabbed my coat, handbag, camera, plus 5p and set off for a lovely drive on a glorious Spring morning.

Have wanted to visit for a few years now, but, the usual price is £11 per adult! This way, I get £10.95 change :heehee: Mr Mum had been called into work so couldn't accompany me; good job I like my own company then!

What a wonderful, spur of the moment, outing it was! The only disappointment was, my camera battery wasn't charged and I had limited "photo opportunities" as a result. But, the images imprinted on my mind ..... suffice to say, those gardens are truly 'inspirational'.

Here are a few images that I was able to capture ...

          Cor,
luvvly Mum. Wish I'd have known - would have trotted off there myself - only 12 miles away from me. Doesn't it look splendidly Springlike?
          Jenny

Do you know, I almost contacted you about this .... just in case you fancied a coffee? But, then, I thought you probably already had plans for the day and chickened out of asking  :wallbanging:

It was heavenly Spring like, Jenny! By the time I got there, it was obvious many other local radio people had "seized the day!" and it was pleasantly popular without being overbearingly so.

I also walked around with one eye open :th scifD36: just in case the likes of Pete may have been there :heehee: (I'd have recognised him by his muddy boots, obviously).

One, very kind, gentleman even gave me a "well done!" There was a point in the path where there was a lady in a wheelchair and a man pushing her; but, they had stopped on a path which only lead ahead or to one side. The man looked a bit perplexed  I asked him which way he was heading; he answered by asking which way *I* was heading ( :wallbanging: ) so, I said, straight ahead. But, if you are undecided, may I suggest you move to one side, I'll bypass you and then you can take the time you need to decide? Worked like oil on a piston! :roflol:

It seems there was no prior notice of this "shilling day"- hence, it wasn't too crowded for you. We had plans today so I wouldn't have been able to join you there....
and will have to wait 'til Shineyland Mum,
            Jenny

pete Doubt they will extend the offer over the bank holiday weekend, Cherub. Think it was only for the anniversary (aka Bank Hols = hike in revenue  )

Glad to hear you have a job for a while - especially with the current climate!

Jenny namaste - good job I didn't waste a free text then :roflol: But, you would have enjoyed it ;)

                Mum,
I'm at the beginning of a session with Orange ATM as my mobile(still under warranty) isn't charging. It's a labourious one day at a time "now try this" process. They are sending me a new battery on Friday evening by courier.
So I couldn't have read your free text,
                Jenny

Oh dear :( sounds stressful, Jenny!

Weird! Today is Wednesday? "Courier" implies... fast service ... get it by Thursday!? :dunno: Seems "courier" is merely a fancy word for "posted" (for those who have no idea of the meaning of the word/service :nonofinger: )

Hope you get it all sorted to your satisfaction, Jenny  If not, give them what for (in the politest terms, of course  )

Lovely pictures Mum and a lovely place. :) A castle celebrating it's 75th anniversary? That seems rather young to me and it obviously wasn't built for defensive reasons. My bungalow's only 10 years younger than that! :heehee:
