A bit blurry because of the conditions.

I don't blame you, Vicky, but later in the year it gets too hot for me where you are.

Shiney, we haven't been over 40c for years here (and I've lived here for over 10 years now) ... you go to hotter places and I'm sure London was hotter than that last year or the year before. Central Portugal is where is gets HOT and COLD ... I'm South ... we don't really get either ... :)

Edit: I think people have misconceptions about Algarve in many ways and I say that with a bit of sadness in my heart ...

Vicky, I don't really like it hotter than 25C :rolleyespink: but when I'm away, looking at the fascinating out of the way places, ancient sites and the lifestyle of the people, I'm happy to put up with it - as long as I can get into some airconditioning when I'm not out and about. When we are out and about in the hot sun I always carry an umbrella to keep the sun off (much better than a hat :)).

My trusty, fold up, umbrella (cost £2 sometime last century :heehee:) has been to over 50 countries (it fits neatly into my trouser pocket) and has kept off rain, sun and sandstorms.

I had a quick look through some photos to see if I could find a pic of me and the umbrella but couldn't spot any. So here's a pic of Mrs Shiney using it in a temperature of 42C.

We do get some pretty hot times over here but I'm lucky enough to have been the guinea pig for a friend who was starting an airconditioning company 19 years ago. We had it installed very cheaply and he used us for his advertising and publicity. :dbgrtmb:

Shiney, we do laugh and say that Portuguese umbrellas have more use than any other country ... basically all year round because they use them in the summer to keep the sun off the head (gives you gripe ... pronounced greep, ie, 'flu) here (they haven't got a clue) and also the rain .. when we get it... plus they put them up in their gardens to keep the sun off the tomatoes ... a lot of the locals walk around with their handbags on their heads too ... :rolleyespink:

Pretty good, Michael, not far out! They were looking out from the east coast - but it was from the most easterly point of Oz and was a long way to the nearest land (approx 3,750 miles to Valparaiso, Chile).

I've just taken some photos in the very early light. We had some more snow last night. I'm staying here in the warm until I have to go out tonight :dbgrtmb:

                    Hi Micky,
We've been here forty years and it was in a terrible state when we got here. As it was in such a state we got it for only a little bit more than our ex-council house 3 bed semi. :dbgrtmb:

You've done a grand job in that time Shiney. Hope I can make it up there this year.
