one of my clients has had a lot of building work going on ... a bit of a disaster as far as gardening is concerned, i will not go in to all details, but the front garden has two lawns either side of a path, one lawn was used to store breeze blocks for several months ..... now its rather a mess!
any ideas, should we re turf both lawns ..... the final solition .....or try to aerate one, it is only twenty sq metres, feed and top dress both, and hope for a full recovery?

Depends if the customer is prepared to wait I guess. Lawns can usually bounce back from this sort of abuse with a little help. But then if its a small lawn it may be almost as economical to returf. I would work out the costs for each, explain pros & cons to customer and let them choose. [IMG]

If it was a good lawn to start with then chances are it will recover providing the grass is only yellow and not dead. A good scarifying when growth is underway then aerating and horticultural sand top dressing. Make sure any builder's rubble or block chips are out of the grass before putting a mower on it.

If the lawn was poor anyway it might be an opportunity to get it relaid.
