Sorry I am being cheeky and starting a new thread but with over a 100 pages I couldnt read through all that even with my enthusiasm! Being British its our biggest talking point, after we say, "how are you", we normally say, nice day isnâ??t itâ?, or this summer of course, "when is it going to stop raining"?

Every day of my working life I had to pour over the 'Met', as we called it before we flew and update throughout the day, so I have gained a working knowledge which is quite useful with gardening, I also used to teach meteorology, so if anyone wants to know anything I will have ago at answering it.

Just as an example here is what I would be presented with for London Heathrow at 11am this morning

    METARs
    LONDON/HEATHROW EGLL 150950Z VRB03KT 9999 BKN035 16/08 Q1026 NOSIG

    TAFs
    LONDON/HEATHROW EGLL 150414Z 151212 09010KT 9999 SCT035 TEMPO 2207 03005KT LONDON/HEATHROW EGLL 150900Z 151019 08008KT 9999 SCT045

    and that's the easy bit!

:thmb: cheers Jon, it is a shame about anyone who has booked with XL, at least those stranded abroad have had their holiday.

My pal had just started with them after working for another airline that went bust (Blue Sky).We are all betting there will be more failures over the next 12 months. I always have an escape plan worked out when I go abroad--been caught out before!!!

Thanks Jon, you have fixed it to be sunny this weekend!

I do use metcheck mainly, I've found it tends to be a little more optimistic than the BBC.

As a matter of interest in flying we consider a forecast more than 3 hours old to be out of date!
