    That's one beautiful bird ... looks like the black swans we saw in A�§ores.

    Black swans were introduced here early last century from Australia and have been popular in wildfowl collections but inevitably some escaped and are a breeding bird now. There is a Black necked swan too just to confuse which looks like a hybrid but is a true species. [​IMG]

    They can be bad tempered lot....or should i say extremely protective.
    They had them at Hodnet hall Gardens near here, don't know whether they still have them.
    When they had built nests you had to watch yourself. I was by the lake one time and an old guy right across the other side had accidentally followed a path that led to near a nest. The first i noticed was a rush of water as the swan came out of the water. It had him on the ground but luckily he managed to get up from under the swan and run for it.
