My 2 18mth old golden retrievers were both out in the garden this morning running a mock (boys will be boys) when suddenly there was an awful scream....it was theo.....he couldn't get up....i did my best to stay as calm as i could so as not to distress him any further....one of his back legs was sticking out at an awkward angle.....i was gently rubbing it and trying to feel for any damage.....he managed to stand and then hop back in the house....still wimpering i knew something was very wrong.....Mr lolimac took him straight to the vets....After some very strong pain killers Theo looked a little more comfortable but is awaiting xrays as the vet suspects a dislocated hip.....whilst he is under anesthetc he will be castrated....talk about a double whammy.....I have every confidence in our lovely vet who has already rang me to tell me not to worry.....Mr Lolimac has gone back to work...I've had a good cry....and now Archi ,theos brother and me are sat waiting by the phone....What a worry they are.....hopeing for positive news......

:( Awww hugs to Theo loli.. Hip problems do usually show up very suddenly like that... It sounds like you have a lovely vet though, so be strong for both your boys loli..

Having the snip shouldn't really be too troublesome though.. A little piece of advice though.. When you or Mr loli pick Theo up after the snip get a Buster collar (you know the lampshades) for him if he doesn't come out with one on.. Allot of vets ask you & so many people say "Oh no he will be OK".. Then during the night when you are asleep they will lick & they do so much damage..!! Which in turn is more vet appointments.. That is what my friends dog Woody did..!! :WINK1:

:sunny: Good luck & do let us know how he is.. :sunny:

Well yes it was definately a dislocated hip...Our little furry lad has to stay in 'hospital' till friday....he is sedated and has to remain imobile till then:(we have been advised not to visit as he mustn't get excited:cry3:bless his heart ,he is such a live wire and not used to keeping still....thankfully the x-rays showed that his hips are in good shape and no signs of hip dysplasia:thumbsup: it was the trauma that caused it....they are giving us 4 hourly phone calls to keep us updated, they really are brilliant:love30:i wanted to go there for my gall bladder op but got rushed into our local infirmary instead.....
When Theo comes round properly he'll be shocked that his 'gentlemen ornaments' are missing......Oh well ...2 less christmas decorations to make:heehee:....sorry if i sound flippant but i've been a wreck all day ,but after reading all your well wishes it's given me a massive boost...
                              Many thanks to all:dbgrtmb:
