these cats are bringing unwanted gifts in to house

i love my cats, BUT last night a small fat RAT appeared,
how can I stop them bringing in "trophies" ?

 

Evening, Lady Gardener! I don't think it is possible to stop our feline friends from bringing us "presents" ... it's their way of showing affection ... maybe not ideal in our minds!

Magic Sam loves catching anything on the move so we've had birds, mice, rats, baby bunnies, geckos and last week a great fat lizard! :eek: Geckos are the favourite at the moment so there can be several a week, or even daily! These things are always alive and we return them to the orchards (only on the odd occasion has something not survived, usually a baby bird). Invariably, after we have retrieved the trophy, Magic Sam plops himself in front of the fridge waiting for his remuneration ... a slice of cheese!

Fortunately it's a rare occasion when he goes for our toes in the bed! :D

 

I read somewhere that the cats are treating us as babies in need of education when they bring in creatures for our inspection, and must think we are very slow as we never learn to do it for ourselves!

A good theory, Liz ... I just always thought Magic Sam (and his predecessor Skwij - Puschka never did such things!) was only doing it to get a people treat! :D
