    Hi Marley,
Is that zantedeschia aethiopica ( white calla lily), If it is then there's more to come. I used to grow them in my pond, and they flowered spring and late summer if I remember correctly.

Bayleaf, to me thats purple, but then I suppose there are very few truly black plants.

Was very bright when I took the photo's, but the flower is almost black & quite glossy (as you say there are very few true black plants - part of the fun is trying them all out, all the deeper shades are sexy). wouldn't sell as well if they marketed it as just purple (it's actually more burgundy wine coloured)! I think it's fab whatever it's called ("Scwarzenwald" which means black forest)

Have you tried Ophiopogon planiscapus nigrescens for real black (I bet you have). I bought a small plant a few years ago and now I've got it all over the place.

Sure thing Pete! tis a thing of beauty and really easy (my type of plant!) Also like Geranium phaeum "Samabor" - has fab black markings on the leaves and deepest purple flowers. Another favourite is Persicaria "Black Dragon" (in photo next to Calla). Love those sultry plants!
