Well it's rained all day, and as I'm constantly thinking of how I would like my garden to look I remembered that this spring there was not any spring flowers. There will be next spring! :snork::spinning::snork:

That's a wonderful selection Dianne :dbgrtmb: and will create some lovely colour for you but I'm thinking winter first. I have 170 young winter Pansies growing. :)

Didn't think of winter flowers! I shall look for some, the one think the garden doesn't have is much colour :)

Don't forget polyanthus/primroses, cheap and very colourful for the winter.

You still have time to grow your own Pansies if you feel inclined. :)

I don't buy primroses John as I have wild ones growing in my lawns but they won't bloom until spring though. Surprisingly they survive the mower.

Me too, they self seed everywhere. Sometimes I dig a few up and stick them in containers for a winter display. I've got some free ones coming from Van Meuwen soon, it will be interesting to see how they compare.

Yes will do, I had an email from Van Mewen yesterday they had been dispatched - I'm expecting very tiny plugs. I'll post some photos when they arrive.

Hi @Sheal - they arrived, pretty small but healthy:

They are potted on and there is plenty of time for them to reach a decent size before I put them into their final positions.

That's a lot of top growth on those tiny plugs John but as you say they look healthy. Let's hope they perform well next spring. :)

For spring I have quite a short list of flowers. November I plant bulbs in containers and beds Crocus , Daffs various sizes and my absolute favourite :love30:Tulips:love30: Triumph type . I have tried other bargain bucket types but I do prefer the Triumph varieties.
I buy bedding pansies the first week after Valentines day. They always put a great show on until I have to remove them for my summer planting - always feel a bit mean:catapult:Never bother with pansies from November as I think they just sit there looking sad until March.
Must try more Primroses this winter/spring , not had huge success with them in the past.
@JWK yours self seed , mine self die

I know this has come up a dozen times , but which is the best online company for Tulip and other spring bulbs ?
Saves grubbing round garden centres looking for the variety/colour you want.
