    A good question, Windy! Never seen that before - looks as hairy as the amaranthus, but it's definitely not that!

    OK OK. I've been off the air. It is one of my strange Amaranths, as discussed some time ago somewhere on GC. It is an A.gangeticus otherwise known as elphant head.

    [IMG]

    I originally got a couple of packets of seed from a company caled Terre de Semences - or seed bed to us Anglos. I can only say to you all; beg, steal, or lie your way to one of these catalogues. They must be the best vegetable/fruit seed catalogues ever produced. I will say no more, go find em here;

    http://www.terredesemences.com/

    The company (based in France) were fabulous organic seed producers, with a truly wonderful array of material. Needless to say they therefore got shafted good and proper by the EC for selling non EC accredited seed varieties of commercial crops (I think it was that anyway).

    Go enjoy GC'ers, a great resource,
    love,
    Jazid

    PS I might be able to send some seed to a few of you if you would like - assuming the plant hasn't been dumped on the compost yet! These things seed like crazy. Loads of fun. [IMG]

    And yes BM they are as soft and hairy as they look. Great autumn colour on the leaves too...
