I'm curious to learn about other people's experiences with this company as there seems elsewhere, to be some polarised views.

Over the years we've bought a lot of stuff and have always received good service from them. As an example we bought some gardenias, they weren't cheap, which were supposed to be hardy, but we were very disappointed with them. So the following year, I expressed my thoughts about them attaching a photo of them in an e-mail. They agreed to replace them, it was about four months before they arrived and a year later, (last year) the result the same. Another polite disappointed e-mail with a photo. We got a refund.

We've had some really good buys from them.

These "tree azaleas" we bought two years ago. They flowered the same year and again last year, despite me shaping them a bit.

They've grown taller and have been rewarded this year with better pots.

I never worry about the state of the lawn at this time of the year, when it warms up it'll get its usual three in one treatment, then some occasional doses of iron sulphate solution. I just try to keep off it at the moment.

This year we're trying these T & M "miniature tree roses" for the patio, they arrived bare rooted before Christmas and all are producing tiny new buds. They too weren't expensive. The pots cost three times as much! They'll stay here for now, sheltered by the fence.

    Digressing a bit...

Beware of any garden centre selling you a dwarf conifer, as after thirty years you might, as we have, this! We actually like it, as it's been home to so many dunnocks over the years. It's a bit of an odd shape now as many years ago I wired it to stop it spreading.

For all year round good value and low maintenance, you can't beat hebes.
These two troughs I bought from Wyevale a few years ago and painted them to match the woodwork of the tea-house, can hold three fair sized pots in each. I used to have one set of pots with lilies in them for the Spring, swopped for another set with Dahlias in the Autumn, but it became a pain. I bought these hebes from Waitrose of all places at a total cost of about eight quid. They do very well all year round and are no bother.

Ive only ever used them when theres been a good deal on and theyve generally been ok. Some young plants turn up looking like theyve been in the spinner but thats the crazy couriers fault.

Any thing thats been d.o.a has been replaced after a call.

This was 3 years ago, maybe better or maybe worse nowadays?

I had a few really bad experiences with them over a few years, and essentially gave up using them for anything for a while. I did get some stuff from them last year (all special offer stuff) and the plants that arrived were actually reasonably OK to be fair.

Part of the problem with them for me is that they over-promise and then under-deliver; they show all the photos of the very best looking plants, and for those who are not really into their gardens to the same degree as we are, then end up disappointed when the wee titchy plug plants arrive especially when they also look worse for wear from courier damage.

I might buy the odd thing from them this year for my baskets, but I am not doing all that much in the way of flowers this year, I am going for edibles instead.

Many years ago T&M were expensive, but had an excellent reputation for quality and extensive range.

In my experience the quality of their products has dropped, but not their premium prices. Too many times I've experienced shortfalls in stated number of seeds, broken/obviously unviable seeds that then had poor/nil germination. And when complaining they would offer a replacement of the same rubbish when it was too late to sow replacements. Same sort of expeiriences with many of their plug plants and even sweating, mouldy sprouting onion sets.

There are now so many really cheap online suppliers of quality seeds, that for several years I've only bought seeds and plug plants from T&M if they've been drastistically reduced + free p&p + have a money off code, etc., only then am I prepared to risk the poor quality of plug plants and poor germination of seeds that I've come to expect from T&M.

I do buy some seeds from T and M and have never had a problem with delivery or germination.

To be honest, I rarely buy from "Big Brands" online and tend to buy from small Nurseries who have always given good quality plants at more modest prices.:dunno::coffee::snorky:
