    Keep getting this error message, "An error occurred sending mail: Unable to authenticate to SMTP server smtp.supanet.com. The server does not support authentication (SMTP-AUTH) but you have chosen to use authentication. Untick 'Use name and password' for that server or contact your service provider."
    No idea where to find the tick box to do what it says. Any ideas anyone?
    TIA

    Try
    "Tools -> Account Settings -> Outgoing Server (SMTP)"

    (if you're using Linux it's 'edit->account settings')

    Hope that helps (I don't use Thunderbird, but do know my way around mail systems)

    Steve

    If it happens to others the actual sequence is
    Tools
    Account Settings.
    Outgoing Server
    Edit
    Untick Box in the Wizard which then appears.

    Thanks folks, really useful help, very grateful indeed.
