Tigridias are summer flowering bulbs from Mexico. They like it hot, but must not go dry so I grew them in a container. Spectacular flower this morning, but gone after a few hours. More buds to come, but have to ask myself if they are really worth bothering with.

Hornbeam, I love them. I think they're worth growing, I know they're worse than morning glory for flower endurance, but what else is quite so spectacular with such a wide range of colours? They're not very demanding either, hot summers seem to suit them. [IMG]
Another lovely picture, I will look at it until I get a spotty one!

    Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night
    What immortal hand or eye
    Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

The Tiger Flower may not have William Blake's "fearful symmetry", but it does have a perfect symmetry of its own. Incredible!
