I have wanted to attempt time lapse photography for sometime, so I decided not to put it off any longer. My first try will be to capture a pinwheel zinnia bud opening. The lights are daylight fluorescent, the interval between photos is fifteen minutes, the F stop is F11, the shutter speed is 25 with an ISO of 200. Also, I have allocated 1650 frames for the project and will stitch them together to make a 24 frame per second video. There should be adequate space in the composition to allow for the bud to move around some, but not much. Any suggestions?

I'd love to see the results but I'm sorry Hydrogardener, I know nothing about time lapse photography.

If you take your time, bit by bit, and learn slowly, you'll learn!!:heehee:

The video is finished and I have included a link to my blog below if anyone would care to see the video. I tried to load the file on the forum, but it did not work correctly. While the video is OK, I can see it has a lot of room for improvement.

I think the video is very good considering it's your first attempt. :dbgrtmb:

Seeing just how a cucumber tendril attaches itself to a support may make for an interesting project, so I am giving it a try.

The tendril video is finished, but it did not turn out as I hoped, as the tendril simply wrapped itself around the support. Boring. So in an effort to improve my skills, I photographed a Lilly bud opening. I find the results fascinating, however, it is a frustrating process as it is necessary to tie up your equipment for several days to produce a twenty second video.

It's a shame the tendril trial didn't come to much Hydrogardener. Do you think it would work better with something like a Clematis?

Sheal, I decided to publish it anyway on the site. I had hoped it would form a loop and twist to apply force in each direction, but it did not do that this time. That said, in the background another tendril can be seen whipping around searching for support. It is on the site just below the Lilly video.

I'd missed that video when I looked earlier. :doh:It's quite fascinating watching the second tendril thrashing about trying to get a hold. It's not until we see time lapse we realise just how alive plants are and that their natural instincts (if that's the right word) when growing come to the fore. :)

I liked the Lily video and how the bud suddenly burst open after developing. :)
