Is it possible for someone to alter the settings so that we don't keep getting logged out.I have just sat and typed out a long post complete with photos and inbetween I had a phone call which lasted a couple of minutes.By the time I went to post it I got the message to say that I wasn't logged in and I lost the whole lot.I am beginging to get a little bit fed up and angry that when I want to post something then I lose it all because the software doesn't work properly.:(
Cant work it out Kandy, Its not happened to me, does it keep asking you to log in at the start of a session, ie. is the "remember me" not working for you.
Pete,I have just written it all out again and lost it yet again. I have to log in each time that I come on here or else it won't let me write anything.I had the same problem in wakey wakey the other day and then this afternoon in Non Gardening Discussion when I was starting a new thread with photos and writing. When I came to add the new thread a box comes up telling me to log in,although I am already logged in. Walnut said on wakey wakey that he has had the same problem and lost the whole lot when he has gone to add the post. It gets too frustrating having to keep sitting here typing it all out two or three times. If I don't log out and go away for some time and then come back to GC then I have been logged out and then have to log back in. Also at times it looks like the time that people are posting me included is an hour behind everyone else comapred to the time on my laptop or the clock on the mantlepiece. I hope that something can be sorted because I am losing the will:confused::rolleyes:
Well its beyond me Kandy, I'm afraid. It looks like a job for Nathan, unless anyone else can sort it out. You could PM him.
Kandy, Could it be your internet settings possibly, as I have not come across that problem yet. I never log out, and whenever I come on here, I am automatically logged in. I will access your profile and settings, and see if anything is glaringly obvious, as Pete has said, and just to clarify it for me, you have checked the 'Remember me' box, don't be offended, just want to make sure.
Hi Nathan,I think it might be cured.I have just had a PM from another member giving me some advice about the Internet settings so Mr Kandy being the computer expert in our house as had a fiddle and I will now see if it has worked. I always tick the Remember me box each time I log on apart from a couple of times when it seems to have done no good ticking the box in any case. Thank You and Pete for your advice and I will see how it goes.:thumb: PS when I get a PM at the bottom there is a button that says forward. Can you tell me where the PM is forwarded to as I clicked it the other day and nothing happened.
Hello Nathan It was me that PMed Kandyfloss with the same answer I gave Jjordie in another thread (it worked for him) and that is to add this site as a safe site so that your pc will allow the site to place cookies on your machine. For those that are interested the instructions are... In Interent Explorer, click Tools then Internet Options Click on the Privacy tab at the top Click the Sites button In the "Address of website" field, type http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk Click the Allow button Click OK See if this fixes the problem. I have assumed you have internet explorer 7 like me, if not things may have a slightly different name.
Ive kept my registered confirmation on my email and click on this to get in, and I never have to log in. I dont know if thats of any help. 02
Hi Dizi,Many Thanks for your help.Mr Kandy has had a fiddle with it and I willjust have to see how it goes.I keep ticking the remember me box but I am still not sure what it is suppossed to do:thumb: Do you know what the forward button means when you have a PM because I pressed that one when I wanted something to do like you do and nothing happened:confused: 02,I never thought of that I use the bit where it said it was doing the migration and it takes me to this site but I still have to log in each time.
Hi Kandy, the forward button is for if you want to send the message on to someone else (rather than reply to the person who sent it to you). If you click it you get an extra 'box' at the top where you can type in the person/people you want to send it on to. 02 might have a point there. Some of your trouble might be coming from you using the re-direct link. Once you are logged into the new site you need to add it to your favourite websites and use the new link. To add it to your favourites, click the Favourties menu at the very top of the screen then click Add to favourites or if you have internet explorer 7, click the little star that has a green + symbol on it to add this site to your favourites. To open the site you can then click the yellow star and click the new link. If you need to remove the old link from your favourties, click the Favourites menu at the top of the screen then select Organise. From there you can select links to delete or rename. Hope this helps
Hi all just to confirm what Kandy says I have the same problem after a short space of time I am automatically logged out and have to log in again in fact doing this post it happened and I lost the post and have just redone it, I am using firefox and following Dizi's instructions on security settings don't appear to have the fascillity to allow sites only the fascillity to ban sites so any ideas anyone:confused:
Hi Walnut, we use firefox at work, so unless anyone else knows, I'll have a look tomorrow for you to see how it works.
Hi Walnut, there are a quite few settings you need to look at in firefox (I'm looking at version 2, hope yours is the same). here goes... Select Tools / Options Click Privacy at the top In the Cookies section, either tick the field that says "accept cookies" or click the Exceptions button, type in the address for gc and click the allow button. In the private data section, untick "always clear private data when I close firefox", click the Settings button and untick Cookies Click Security at the top Tick the "Remember passwords for sites" field Hopefully these thing will help. Let me know how you get on
