Outside it's been wet and dismal so, just the day to get the Christmas Pudding mix assembled. Though I say it myself, I do make a rather "posh" pud and every year I get repeat orders from 3 friends. As we are sharing our Christmas day with my sister and her man at home, it will be nice to taste my home made pudding. It will go on in the morning in the slow cook crock pot and sit out in the hall. Then I needn't worry about it.
I've left the spoon in the basin. Why not give it a virtual stir and make a traditional wish..;)

Umm umm looks a lovely mix Jenny.. I had my virtual stir & made my wish thanks.. :ThankYou: How long do you give them on the first steaming & do they go very dark..?? Homemade Brandy butter or Sherry sauce to go with.?

This will be the first year for many that I am not making them... Quite a novelty for me, so getting going on decorations etc instead..

Thank you guys and gals. it's a good old Delia Smith recipe with a few "embellishments.. ;)Tomorrow, they will go into 3 x 2 pint basins( 8 to 10 persons) and 1 x 1 pint basin( 4 persons) with a buttered greaseproof inner cover and then a pleated foil outer cover. The 4 puddings will go into my biggest roasting pan filled as high as poss. with water( bain marie). They'll be in an aluminium "tent" which I will check about every 2 hours to make sure they are still in water and top up when needed. They will be in a slow oven for about 8 hours. They will be quite dark by then but seem to darken further as the weeks go by. They will sit on a high shelf in the unlit garage until needed. Each bowl is marked underneath with the relevant name and they return their bowls to me after Christmas - for the following year. They live up there on the garage shelf 'til next time.

Not a huge pudding fan, but I made some festive wine from a dozen jars of mincemeat that was past its best last year - it might be ready this year but it was still a bit cloudy when I bottled it last month. Actually it was very cloudy. But tasted ok ; its certainly come out strong !

You're not allowed to tell until it comes true - once it has bee fulfilled, you are allowed to tell; so spill!
