Is anybody able to help me identify this ? Over the last week or so clusters of tiny purple/lavender coloured egg like things had appeared on our lawn clinging to the blades of grass - it's been quite wet here for a week or so, so when I get chance to mow I assume they'll be erradicated, If you brush them they disappear in a cloud of dark dust!

I just wondered if anyone knew what they were as a web search produced nothing and my wife is scared stiff of them, I had to stop her pouring boiling water on the grass

Don't recognise them, but the 'puff of dust' suggests fungal spores to me.

Sypmtamatic of the wet summer weve had.

For a few really good lawns I look after I ocasionally spray with chipco green (turf fungicide) to gaurd against this sort of thing and red thred etc.
