Another double post Gaynor? You really are very fond of theplantexchange.co.uk, so I'll double post my reply under 'Snowdrops'.

'We do exchanges on here as well Gaynor. At no charge.'

Hi gaynor49 and welcome. I started relatively recently, and for some time searched around trying to find out what were good plants to grow and what were not.

Setting aside the question of taste and style, I found that not all plants were created equal. There are definately some that are better than others. I found this site most useful. http://www.cgf.net/plants.php It's run by Bob Brown, who is a well known nurseryman who has won gold medals at Chelsea. He used to be a schoolmaster and gives marks to plants with a score out of 10. I have bought a number of plants based on his rankings and found them to be very good. A varient on this is to buy plants with an AGM (RHS - Award of Garden Merit).

Not at all Dee. I just think that if you join a forum with the express intention of pushing a commercial site, you should ask the admins permission and then declare your interest. I am sure that for the right people theplantexchange is wonderful but I have met so much of this. Send me £10 and I will let you use my site. Anyone who believes that a person can join a forum for advice, post 5 times (including flooding by double posting) and 5 times, tell us how wonderful a commercial site is, is not connected to that site is being naive. Anyone want a scrip for viagra? First join my site.

Youngdaisydee - I have tried it again and it seems to work OK. Another approach is to Google "cgf" and take their link.

John, I hadn't looked that closely at the background to the post, and am willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. But I suspect you may be right. There have been a number of people who have joined here with the apparent purpose of pushing something.

The canny ones wait 1300 posts then spring it upon us - Viagra :D

Ed: Just looked at Snowdrops - a bit obvious.

I tried it too Peter and no probs. I don't think it would do me or anyone much good trying to sell viagra on GC. All of us are so virile and no one over 90. :D

I also have no objection to commercial sites coming on here. I just think they should be honest about the way they do it, and ask the admins. permission. [IMG]

    John,

Virility  speak for yaself, give me a good book and a cup of options (orange please) and I will be well away :D

As for commercial sites, hear hear. This is a friendly forum for gardeners not a commercial site for sellers. If admin say it's ok = fine but ask first nuff said [IMG] [IMG]
