    Poor timing with Christmas coming!
SWMBO has a couple of friends in same situation and they recently got cookies and a relatively gorgeous chocolate pudding. Will try to dig out recipes...

I feel for you CRG. My daughter is allergic to alcohol and many foods, those being dairy products, beef and anything that includes gelatine which vastly limits her diet. Gelatine and beef extracts are used in many products. She even has to be careful with certain medication, there is gelatine in capsule type pills and mouth ulcer gels etc.

Milk is difficult to replace, at present she uses fully skimmed milk and as little as possible in tea etc. She actually uses tea for her morning cereal. Some people use goats milk as a replacement. She also uses instant custard powder that is made with water. Cheese is not an option unfortunately and most shop bought desserts have cream or gelatine in them, but you could try cheese made from goats milk. I think that sheep milk is now coming on to the scene as well, if you can find that it's worth a try. You could use margarine instead of butter.

If you produce a lot of your own food, baking etc. then you should be able to use a lot of the above in the process.

I think ive got the grasp of it now - got alt for milk, cheese, marg and yog. The low residue bit is a bit more difficult - no coffee - cry. No choc - extra big cry! Very limited fruit and veg, no nuts or seeds or dried fruit. No wholemeal anything. At least i got my vits now and tummy pains have eased.

It's going to be hard for you CRG and you'll have 'relapses' from time to time, but if my daughter is anything to go on you will eventually cope and get used to the change of diet. She pretty much lives on vegetables and meats, with the exception of beef now, as she doesn't like fish. Boring yes, but she feels so much better for it. :)

      Good luck! :)

I have a lot of food 'disagreements' with me ... I won't say they are allergies. I cannot tolerate white bread as it just doesn't 'go down'. I buy wholemeal breads or grain/corn breads but only have them a couple of times a week. Difficult for me as I always loved my sandwiches. I don't like meat particularly, especially pork. I am good with things with minced meat, ie, bolognaise, chilli, cottage pie, rissoles, etc.

I eat cottage cheese with pineapple or fresh mandarin/tangerine and coleslaw with cheese and like fruit throughout the day, including juices.

Milk, now why DO you have to have milk in your tea? I drink peppermint, green, Earl Grey and some other teas and I don't put milk in any. I don't use sugar either.

Morning cereal, I love it, muesli, but that means milk so I only have it once a week, no problems with added sultanas or bananas. The rest of the time I have a muesli bar, banana with chocolate from Aldi, lovely. x I like cheese and luckily here it is easy and cheap to get soft goat's cheese which I have on Rivita or equivalent. I always have full butter when I want it which is only a couple of times a week.

The one thing with me is that I eat five or six times a day, small quantities of what I like but I am not good with a big meal and fortunately all the restaurants we frequent know this and are very good with me, ie, like me having an egg and half portion of chips when everyone else is having a 'nice' meal.

You have to learn to live with what you body wants.

May I be so rude as to ask how old you are sweetie? Why are you having acupuncture for this and was this on your doctor's orders?

I am not dismissing acupuncture because I actually had it when I lived in Bucks and suddenly had terrible lower back pains (in my 50s) and the head of Stoke Mandeville Hospital therapy saw me and said would I object to acupuncture and I said no. I was surprised that she put zillions of needles in my legs when I had a back problem and then did foot reflexology on me and told me about all the other problems I had, like food intolerances and sinus problems ... MY FEET TOLD HER THAT ... !!!! But she also asked me if I had changed cars recently and I said yes (six months previous I had got a new company car) and she said that was my problem. IT WAS! The car was such that I was sitting in an 'odd' position. Anyway, I had several more acupuncture sessions and all went away ....

So, all the best with your treatments and let us know how you go. xx

              Sheal, as you know I always endeavour to be a gentleman, and with that in mind I would be happy to offer your daughter the use of my liver etc to process alcohol on her behalf (thus avoiding any nasty allergic reactions);

The only thing I ask is that if you are sending the alcohol in glass bottles, use plenty of padding. In the name of being environmentally friendly and cost efficient, I will even send the processed product directly for recycling. ;)

A very kind offer FC. Alcohol doesn't affect my daughters liver, so that's not a problem. Oddly she can drink Vodka but anything else will give her flu type symptoms and put her in bed for a week.

Any alcohol that would be likely to come your way would not be in glass bottles, it weighs heavy when being posted from Canada! :heehee:

                  Why?

I'm lactose intolerant so I just have hot water with my cereal.

It actually tastes better because you have the full flavour of the cereal without the overwhelming, sickly taste of milk.
